Welcome to Southend-on-Sea and District Law Society
The Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. Southend-on-sea District Law Society (SOSDSL) is the the local arm of the larger organisation, representing local firms in the local area. SOSDLS may be called Southend-on-Sea and District, but in fact we cover a wide geographical area – from Southend to Grays and north to Wickford and beyond.

A Message from the President Last year, in 2015, we celebrated the 800th Anniversary of Magna Carta. In this certain rights were granted to ordinary people for the first time, which helped to make our justice system the envy of the world. Although the rights have been modified and extended over the centuries to adapt to changing needs and circumstances, it is important to remember that a strong, professional and independent legal profession is essential in maintaining our way of life and protecting the rights of our fellow citizens.
Southend on Sea and District Law Society has been the focal point of the legal profession in the area for over 100 years. It acts as a link between the local profession and Chancery Lane, makes representations on behalf of members to other interested parties on matters of concern to the profession locally. The Society has a pro-active and enthusiastic Committee who welcome comments from members and if there are problems, the Committee will try to help where it can.
The Society also arranges seminars and social events to enable members to meet in a more informal way. The highlight of the Society’s social calendar has always been the Champagne Party, which this year, 2016, is to be held on Friday 8th July at The Lawn, Hall Road, Rochford.
